A fallen piece of ice contributed to a gas leak in Washington Wednesday.

According to the Washington County Communications Center, at about 4:39 p.m. dispatch received a caller possibly hearing natural gas near Case Field at 1001 East Van Buren Street. The Washington Police Department responded and found that a fallen piece of ice from the roof at the high school weight room caused a gas leak. The Washington Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded and were on scene until about 7:52 p.m.
