Less than 24 hours after a road trip to West Branch Friday, the Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams were back at it Saturday, traveling to Anamosa. The Golden Hawk girls snapped a two game losing streak with a 55-37 victory over the Blue Raiders. It was Anamosa that came out of the gates firing, holding a 17-8 lead after one quarter. Mid-Prairie chipped away the rest of the half to pull within 22-19 at the break. After halftime adjustments, the Hawks went on a 19-5 run that lasted the entire third quarter to take a lead of 38-27 they would not give up the rest of the night, finishing the game by outscoring Anamosa 17-10 in the fourth. Maddie Nonnenmann led Mid-Prairie with 23 points, Myah Lugar added 13. With the win, the Golden Hawks are now 6-6.

The Mid-Prairie boys lost their second tight game in a row, falling on a shot at the buzzer 50-48. The Golden Hawks led 13-6 after one quarter and 30-26 at the break. Anamosa took the lead back during the third, holding a 41-39 lead after three. The two teams traded baskets in the final period. A final shot by the Blue Raiders as time expired, gave Anamosa the win. Carter Harmsen and Ethan Kos led Mid-Prairie with 15 points each. With the loss, the Mid-Prairie boys are now 5-3. The Golden Hawk boys and girls will both make the trip to Durant Tuesday night to meet the Wildcats.
