Another busy night of basketball is in store for the Washington girls and boys when they travel to Burlington for a non-conference doubleheader against Notre Dame.

After picking up their first win of the season last Monday against Burlington, the Demon girls fell to Fairfield on Friday by a final score of 56-23 to move to 1-9 overall. Anna Nacos has recorded 11.6 points a game to lead the offense. They will have to be on their A game against a Notre Dame squad that sits at 6-1 and riding a five game win streak. Karli Artman is averaging 14 points a night and is a sharp shooter from deep hitting 37% of her threes. The Demons squeaked out a 49-44 win last year against the Nikes.

The Demon boys will look to carry the momentum from a 61-45 victory over Fairfield on Friday to move to 6-3 on the campaign. Three players still average double figures a game with Ethan Patterson, Kasen Bailey, and Trashaun Willis led by Patterson’s 15.8. The Nikes are 8-2 out of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and have a two headed monster that combines for 35 of their points. Josh Smith records 20 points an outing with Matt Johnson not far behind with 15.

The girls’ game gets underway at 6 p.m. tonight with the boys to follow at Notre Dame High School. Listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII.
