The second meeting between Southeast Conference rivals will be tonight in Washington when the Demons host Fairfield for a girl/boy basketball doubleheader.

The Demon girls (1-8) are riding high after picking up their first win on Monday against Burlington by a 53-52 final. Anna Nacos led all scorers with 23 points and Josie Tanner recorded a career-high 19 points. They will need to carry that momentum into tonight against a Fairfield (2-1) team they lost to by a 53-22 score in December. Danielle Breen has led the Trojans with 11.7 points a night and Hannah Simpson hauls in 10 rebounds a game.

The Demon boys will try to put the kibosh to a two-game losing skid after dropping a pair of heartbreakers to Burlington and Albia to start the second half of the season. Washington (5-3) will try to keep pace a top of the SEC with a 3-1 conference mark tied with Burlington and Keokuk in the loss column. Ethan Patterson has led the way with 15.8 points a contest and Lance Sobaski brings in 7.6 boards. Fairfield (1-3) got their first win Monday against Centerville 56-36. Max Weaton has been dangerous averaging 24.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. The Demons squeaked out a 67-62 road victory when these two schools met up last month.
