For the second night in a row the Washington boys’ basketball team was on the short end of a grueling nail biter when they fell to Albia 64-59 in overtime on Tuesday.

After losing to Burlington 66-60 the day prior, it was evident early the Demons would be in for another tussle leading just 15-12 after one and 28-26 at half. Despite taking a nine point lead with six minutes left, the Blue Demons stormed back to force a 55-55 tie at the end of regulation. Albia outscored Washington 9-4 in the overtime period. Lucas Kroll was a bright spot for a Demon squad that was hampered by foul trouble and turnovers. The junior tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds while Lance Sobaski hauled in nine boards.

Albia moves to 4-1 and Washington drops to 5-3. They try to improve their 3-1 conference mark tomorrow when they host Fairfield.
