The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team had a great first half of the schedule on the defensive end of the floor. The Hawks rank in the top 10 in class 3A in a pair of categories. Mid-Prairie is No. 3 in class 3A with 43 blocked shots. The Hawks are led by Phelan Hostetler with 26 individually this season, that total is third best in Iowa in 3A. The Golden Hawks have also posted 116 steals this year. That total is ninth best in class 3A in the state. Mid-Prairie is led in takeaways by Myah Lugar with her 30 steals, 10th most in 3A. The Golden Hawks have a 5-4 overall record and will be back in action Tuesday when they host Wilton.
