It was a strong end to the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule for the Winfield-Mt. Union basketball teams when they swept Louisa-Muscatine last week in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference doubleheader.

The WMU girls took a 33-26 advantage into the fourth quarter when they started to get some cushion and came out with a 46-32 win. Bradie Buffington came off the bench to record 23 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. Kylee Sanders had 19 points for the Falcons, but the team only shot 19% from the floor. WMU closed out the first half of the season a perfect 9-0 and L&M is now 4-3.

The nightcap saw the WMU boys up 24-12 at half and they never wavered in the final two quarters en route to a 55-36 victory. Cam Buffington was a machine connecting on 12 of 14 shots to finish with a career-high 34 points and hauling in 13 rebounds. Abram Edwards was also in double figures with 11 points and seven blocks. The Wolves move to 3-2 and the Falcons drop to 4-3.
