The basketball season finally started up on Thursday for the Lone Tree boys by hosting area school Keota and the Eagles spoiled the opener with a 61-34 win.

The Eagles handled every quarter by jumping out to a 13-6 advantage after one, 28-16 at the break, and continued to tack on in the second half en route to the 27-point victory. Luke Hammen finished with a double-double for the Eagles with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Carson Sprouse added 17 points and six steals while Wyatt Sieren managed five blocks.

Keota improves to 7-0 and travel to Colfax-Mingo on Tuesday. Lone Tree starts up the campaign 0-1 and they battle Columbus Community on Tuesday.
