A home doubleheader sweep is what the Winfield-Mt. Union basketball teams accomplished on Saturday when they welcomed Van Buren for a cross divisional Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup.

Fresh off of a decisive 63-39 victory over Danville on Friday, the WMU girls stayed hot and downed the Warriors 54-50 the next night. The Wolves jumped out to an 18-5 advantage after one and hung on late to stay undefeated. Farrah Nelson led the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jobey Malone and Melina Oepping each added eight points. WMU improves to 5-0 and they get back on the court Friday against Central Lee.

Despite trailing by seven at half, the boys bounced back and got their first win with a 55-48 final score. Freshman Cam Buffington connected on nine of 12 shots to finish with a game-high 24 points. Abram Edwards added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks. The Wolves improve to 1-1 and are off until Tuesday when they host Mediapolis.
