The WACO basketball teams made a trip to New London on Friday for a girl/boy doubleheader and the two schools managed a split.

The Warrior girls picked up their first win by holding on for a 56-48 victory. Up 33-30 at the end of three, WACO put the game away at the line connecting on 19 of 26 freebies for the game. The road team scrapped for 18 offensive boards and out rebounded the Tigers 49-28. Ellah Kissell led the way with 17 points, Morgan Graber hauled in 13 rebounds, and Grace Coble managed 11 boards. The Warriors turned around and lost to Mediapolis 48-38 last night and now sit at 1-3 on the year with Cardinal awaiting on Friday.

The WACO boys against New London had a tough start trailing 27-8 after one en route to a 71-38 defeat. Vincent Jones led the team with eight points, Simeon Reichenbach had seven, and Taylor Sutton recorded five rebounds. The Warriors are now 0-2 and they host Columbus tonight.
