The Highland School District will return to a hybrid learning model effective this Thursday.

The District announced Tuesday that students in sixth through 12th grades will do hybrid learning while the district’s elementary students will return to onsite learning in the classrooms. Superintendent Ken Crawford stated that Thursday will be a “B Day” as they most recently had an “A Day” the last time they did hybrid learning. Crawford also mentioned that this plan will also allow the winter sports program to begin.

The District has conducted a variety of learning models this school year, from 100% virtual to hybrid to 100% in person. Crawford said this decision was made by the administrative team in an effort to address a possible increase of COVID-19 cases due to Thanksgiving gatherings. He says the District hopes the hybrid plan will sustain them until Christmas break starts December 23 with a goal of returning all students to 100% onsite learning in January.
