A pair of KCII area teams will face off Monday in their final tune-up for the regular season when the Hillcrest Academy boys basketball team travels to Keota for a scrimmage with the Eagles. Hillcrest finished last season with an 11-10 overall record. They were 9-7 in The Superconference North Division, good for fourth place. The Ravens return leading scorer Eli Ours for his senior season after putting up 18 points per game a year ago. He was also last year’s leader at 3.7 assists per contest and 2.9 steals per game. On the glass, Hillcrest will need to replace Kobe Borntrager who led the team at 5.8 boards per game, John Hughes returns after grabbling 3.6 rebounds per tilt a season ago.

Keota was 20-4 a season ago, finishing 14-2 in the South Iowa Cedar League East, they shared the division championship with Belle Plaine. The Eagles will need to replace the school’s all-time leading scorer in JD Stout who averaged 29 points per game as a senior. Luke Hammen is the leading returner at 12 points per game a year ago. Brady Duwa is back as the Eagle leader on the boards a season ago at six per game and Carson Sprouse is back after averaging 3.5 assists per game. Tonight’s scrimmage is not open to spectators.
