Due to a high demand for COVID-19 testing, Washington County Hospital and Clinics has made changes to its COVID-19 Wellness Testing program. Priority testing for COVID-19 will be reserved for patients who are symptomatic and require a physician visit, those who present ill to the emergency room, patients on the inpatient unit, and surgical patients. The COVID-19 Wellness Testing program is for individuals who do not have symptoms but are concerned of an exposure to someone with the virus.

Appointments are now required for people who would like a COVID-19 Wellness Test and they are $125. The program at WCHC provides a way for people to pay out-of-pocket for an antigen or antibody COVID-19 test which are meant to ease the mind of individuals who are asymptomatic but concerned.

WCHC can accommodate 18 wellness test appointments daily Monday through Friday and need to be scheduled by calling 319-653-5481. The COVID-19 Wellness Test results will be made available within 24 hours of the appointment on the patient portal. Results will be reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health. If there is a positive result, then individuals may be contacted by the local public health department.

If you are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, then you are encouraged to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider.
