Washington County surpassed the 1,000-case mark for confirmed COVID-19 positive cases over the weekend. As of Sunday, Washington County has had 1,078 confirmed cases, 12 deaths, and 593 people have recovered. As of Saturday, six Washington County residents were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 1,078 local cases, 327 have been in the last two weeks. That means 30.3% of Washington County’s total cases during the pandemic have been confirmed in the last two weeks alone. The first case reported in Washington County was announced March 18th by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

People are urged to practice social distancing, wash hands frequently with soap and water, wear masks in public, and avoid large gatherings.
