Jury trials in the state of Iowa will soon be postponed until February. The three-month delay is in response to climbing COVID-19 positivity rates in the state. The Iowa Supreme Court has issued an order that all jury trials are postponed until February 1st unless a jury is sworn in before November 16th. Statewide the clerk of court offices will remain open and non jury trials along with face-to-face court proceedings will continue.

As of Thursday, Iowa has had 171,277 confirmed cases of the virus, 1,929 deaths, and 105,362 people have recovered for a recovery rate of 61.5%. On Thursday there were 1,208 COVID-19 hospitalized patients and of those 215 were in intensive care and 101 people were on ventilators.
