The Iowa High School State Cross Country races will be held this weekend. The races will be spread out over two days with athletes from five area schools competing. Washington’s Lance Sobaski will be running on Friday in the Class 3A meet.

On Saturday in the Class 2A girls’ race, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks team will run to defend their state title. They are ranked No. 1 in the state. The Mid-Prairie boys’ cross country team will also be competing on the course as a team.

In the Class 1A race, the Columbus Community boys’ cross country team will compete. Sigourney’s Mason Moore qualified as an individual for the Class 1A boys’ race. Leah Bontrager of Hillcrest Academy qualified as an individual for the 1A girls’ contest.
