The road warrior mentality paid off for the Columbus Community volleyball team once again on Wednesday, as they traveled to Durant for a class 2A regional quarterfinal and walked away with a four set victory.

Just a few days removed from a five-set thriller against Pekin, it looked like this one was headed for a similar result with the Wildcats squeaking out a close 25-22 win in set one and 26-24 in the second. Durant would not go down easy by taking the third 25-18, but Columbus shut the door with an emphatic 25-11 win in the fourth. Olivia Carrier led the way with 10 kills while Jobie Lekwa and Sera Vela each had nine assists. Emma Milder hustled for 16 digs, Victoria Howell managed 11 digs, and the team was successful on 90% of their serves with 11 aces.

Columbus improves to 12-13 and they advance to Monday’s regional semifinal against Wilton (30-3) in Durant.
