Getting one step closer to a state bid is what the WACO volleyball team did on Wednesday, as they took down North Mahaska in straight sets in a class 1A regional quarterfinal match.

The 11 Warrior seniors made it clear that they wanted their final game at home to be a victory, as they marched right past the Warhawks with set wins of 25-14, 25-17, and 25-17. Morgan Graber led the offense once again with 13 kills and Molly McLaughlin had seven. Grace Coble dished out 27 assists, Ellie Miles and Lona Farrier each managed three blocks, and Aubri Garnsey had 16 digs. The team was successful on 93% of their serves and recorded seven aces.

WACO improves to 25-7 and the competition ramps up with a trip to Lisbon (26-4) on Monday in a regional semifinal. The Lions downed English Valleys in straight sets on Wednesday.
