The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls cross country teams travel to Monticello tonight for the 2020 River Valley Conference championships. The Golden Hawk girls have won back-to-back RVC titles and enter tonight’s meet as the favorites with their No. 1 ranking in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie won the Hillcrest Academy Invitational last time they were in action, led by individual champion Danielle Hostetler. The Hawks have four ranked runners in their lineup with Danielle Hostetler at No. 1, Sydney Yoder No. 4, Jaden Yoder No. 6 and Mitzi Evans No. 11.

The Mid-Prairie boys finished in fourth place at this meet a year ago. The Hawks enter tonight off of a fourth place finish at the Hillcrest Invitational, led by Jamison Stutzman in third. Mid-Prairie is ranked No. 5 in the state in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association. The Hawks have three ranked runners in their lineup with Thaddeus Shetler No. 10, Stutzman No. 15 and Chandler Hershberger No. 19.

In the field in total tonight there are 11 ranked boys runners and 10 ranked girls runners. Joining Mid-Prairie will be the No. 3 in 1A Iowa City Regina girls and their boys, West Liberty, West Branch, The No. 2 in 2A Tipton boys and No. 7 in 2A Tipton girls, Wilton, Durant, Anamosa, No. 14 in 3A Monticello boys and their girls, No. 14 in class 1A Cascade boys and their girls, Camanche, North Cedar, Northeast Goose Lake and the No. 6 in class 1A Bellevue boys and their girls. Action starts at 4:30p.m. and continues into the evening at Monticello.
