For the first time since March, the University of Iowa Mobile Health Clinic will be making its return to Columbus Junction. The free clinic provides free health screenings and check ups to residents in southeast Iowa, for example blood pressure and vital checks, health education, physician services, dental services, influenza vaccinations, and more. Mobile Clinic Volunteer and first year medical student at the University of Iowa Maya Altemeier explains the added COVID-19 measures in place at the mobile clinic events, “Since it’s still nice out, we only allow one patient inside at a time. The majority of people will wait outside. They are required to wear a mask, and we spaced it out so people are not putting themselves in danger or are endangering others. And then we have also implemented a role of COVID screeners at the entry to all clinics. Anyone who does show signs or symptoms or a fever is not allowed to come to the clinic that day and they are provided with resources on where they can go to be tested and if they should quarantine or not.” The mobile clinic will make a stop in Columbus Junction on Sunday from noon-2 p.m. at the Roundy Elementary Gym located at 1212 Colton Street. Appointments do not have to be made, walk-ins are accepted.
