Saturday, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country teams were back on the course for the first time in almost two weeks at the 15th annual Heartland Invitational on the campus of Central College in Pella. Head coach Mark Hostetler billed this event as the toughest meet in Iowa, year in and year out. The Golden Hawks were placed in a division with several ranked 3A and 4A schools on the day. The Mid-Prairie girls finished seventh of 10 teams with their score of 163 points. The Hawks were led by Sydney Yoder in 16th with a time of 19:58. Other Golden Hawk runners included Jaden Yoder 19th, Mitzi Evans 33rd, Abby Fleming 46th, Phoebe Shetler 49th, Amara Jones 61st and Ana Fleming 62nd. The Hawks were without No. 1 ranked Danielle Hostetler on the day.

The Mid-Prairie boys finished 10th in their division with a score of 270. The Golden Hawks were led by Thaddeus Shetler 36th in 17:07. Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Jamison Stutzman 40th, Chandler Hershberger 57th, Nathan Wallington 67th, Lucas Bontrager 70th, Mose Yoder 79th and Daniel Rodgers 84th. Mid-Prairie will next be in action tonight when they travel to Solon.
