The Highland Community School District will continue their hybrid learning model until at least October 2. The school board met Tuesday night to discuss their hybrid learning model and whether or not to move to a fully on-site learning model as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The administration’s recommendation was to continue with the hybrid model through October 2. And at that time, further analyze the district’s quarantine numbers, and the positivity rates for Washington and Johnson counties to make the best decision for the students and staff. The board voted unanimously to continue the hybrid model until October 2. They will hold a meeting September 28 to reassess whether to move fully on-site or to stay hybrid.

Under the hybrid model, students are split into two groups and go to school in-person every other day. Students and staff are required to wear face coverings when they are at school.
