Each year Hospice of Washington County holds a 5k fundraiser and this year it will be virtual for safety. Anyone in the community can sign up, get a t-shirt, and complete their 5k on their own route between September 19th and 26th.

Robyn Harvey-Kuntz with Hospice of Washington County says they’ve adapted with the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing and have moved it to a virtual platform. She says in doing so, the traditional sense of camaraderie felt at the 5k has grown beyond Washington, “I am really hoping that it actually expands in a different way. I heard from a few people that don’t live here anymore in Washington and would loved to have participating in events in the past, but cannot do it because they don’t live here. So, this year, folks that are in various parts of the country are like sending me notes and messages saying, ‘Hey, I want to participate. I can do this.’ And they’re excited about it. There’s just a different kind of excitement in the air, it’s not the same sort of excitement. But, I think it’s a good excitement. We’re going to learn something different from this.”
