After being ahead of the five-year average for most of the summer, Iowa’s corn crop is now on pace with the average. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, for the week ending August 9th, 66% of Iowa’s corn was in the dough stage or beyond and 94% of soybeans were blooming or beyond. Soybeans are about one week ahead of average with 83% setting pods.

In southeast Iowa, 61% of corn is in the dough stage and 72% of soybeans are setting pods.

Overall, Iowa’s corn condition fell to 69% good to excellent and soybeans are 70% good to excellent.
