Thousands of Alliant Energy customers remain without power one day after severe thunderstorms hit the area. According to Alliant Energy, nearly 1,000 customers in the Wellman area and 900 in the Kalona area did not have power as of noon Tuesday. Emergency crews worked into the evening Monday to remove trees that had fallen on power lines in Wellman.

KCII News reached out to Alliant representatives Tuesday morning who didn’t have information specific to Washington County and said that it is not yet known how long it will take to restore power. KCII News will bring you updated information as it becomes official.
