Business owners in Riverside have the opportunity to receive a grant from the city for enhancement projects to their buildings. The Riverside Downtown Business District Incentive Program provides a 50/50 matching grant worth up to $10,000 on a reimbursement basis. Improvement projects will follow similar guidelines as the Riverside Community Beautification Grant Program. Eligible improvements can include the repair or replacement of frames, sills, glazing, glass, exterior shutters, awnings; roof installation, repair, or replacement; and or compliance with ADA for commercial properties. Grants will not be awarded to projects with a focus on interior improvements; projects started, in process or completed prior to the application for the grant; projects where other grant funding has been received; or to pay for labor provided by the applicant. Preference will be given to applicants that maintain the historical and aesthetic integrity of the structure. The city has allotted $20,000 for this grant program annually. Due to a late grant cycle for fiscal year 2021, applications for improvement projects are due by August 31 to Riverside City Hall.
