Iowa Wesleyan University has postponed many of their usual fall activities for the 2020-2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes homecoming, the class of 2020 commencement ceremony, and most fall sporting events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) recently postponed all athletics events, except golf, cross country, and tennis . This will include football, volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer. The University is a member of the UMAC for football only and the SLIAC for all other sports. Men’s and women’s tennis, golf, and cross country will continue in the fall season while following local, state, and national health guidelines. 

 

University President Chris Plunkett says Iowa WesleyanUniversity is committed to celebrating the accomplishments and graduation of the class of 2020 and will present options for personal recognition. The University had postponed the graduation ceremony to October 23 to coincide with homecoming. 

 

The postponement of homecoming activities will also postpone the grand opening of the newly built Willis Wrestling Facility, the Hall of Fame and alumni award ceremony, and the 50th year reunion of the classes of 1970 and 1971. These homecoming events and activities have been rescheduled to October 8-9, 2021.
