Portions of Iowa have entered extreme drought as dry conditions continue to expand across the state. According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, 6.16% is in extreme drought, 15.68% is in severe drought, 34.27% is in moderate drought, and 79.61% of Iowa is abnormally dry. The extreme drought stretches across 11 counties and is centered in Carroll County.

Abnormally dry conditions are now observed in the KCII-listening area. The northern halves of both Washington and Keokuk counties are abnormally dry, along with most of Iowa County and the southwestern corner of Johnson County.
