A Wapello teenager died in a two-vehicle car wreck in Louisa County Friday morning. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 5:54 a.m. a Honda Civic driven by 18-year-old William M. Martin of Wapello and a Lincoln Town Car driven by 59-year-old Allen Fitzgerald of Wapello collided.

The Civic was southbound on County Road X-61 and the Lincoln was northbound. The Civic rounded a curve and crossed the centerline, striking the Lincoln. Martin was not wearing a seat belt; he died at the scene. Fitzgerald had on a seat belt and was transported by Louisa County EMS to the Muscatine Hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wapello Fire Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, and Louisa County Ambulance.
