lone-tree-3

The playoff run for the Lone Tree softball team came to a close in a class 1A regional semifinal when they dropped a road game to Lisbon 8-2 last week.

Lisbon was relentless offensively scoring in each of the first five innings including three in the fifth to extend a 5-2 lead to 8-2. Lone Tree scored both tallies in the second and third with Kinley Hayes and Avery Grover bringing in runs. They had five hits in total including a 2-for-3 night from Holley Johnson. Abby Buckman threw six innings in the circle giving up three earned runs on six hits, walking none, and striking out three. Lisbon turned around and defeated Central City 4-1 on Monday to punch their ticket to state.

Lone Tree head coach Tom Dickey talked about his seniors. “They were a great group of kids that liked to be coach. They were outstanding examples of citizenship and academics. I thought they represented our school at the highest level and those are the types of kids you really want on your team.”

The Lions close the season 6-10 and say goodbye to those five seniors in Johnson, Buckman, Lillian Miller, Sara Branson, and Whitney Willoz.
