In an area battle that did not impact Southeast Iowa Super Conference standings, the Highland baseball team pulled away from Lone Tree last night on the road 12-7.

A 3-2 Huskie advantage after four quickly turned into 7-2 in the fifth and they kept tacking on late for the five-run victory. Highland had 14 hits on the night including Bill Laughlin going 4-for-5 with two RBI and Cael Yeggy had two hits with two driven in. Chase Schultz tossed six frames giving up three earned runs on six hits and striking out six. Adam Knock went 3-for-4 for the Lions and Harmon Miller registered four RBI. Lone Tree had five pitchers come into the game including Josh Mills going 2 2/3 innings giving up one earned tally on four hits.

The Huskies improve to 7-4 overall and play for a SEISC North Division title on Wednesday against Mediapolis. Lone Tree is now 6-6 and they close out the regular season Thursday at West Liberty.
