The Hillcrest Academy and Columbus baseball and softball teams meet Thursday on the diamond. In Kalona, it’s senior night for the Raven boys when they meet the Wildcats. Hillcrest comes into the game with a 4-5 overall record, winners of three straight including an 8-2 victory over Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday. For the season, the Ravens are hitting .265, led by Eli Ours with a .464 average. London Schrock has the team lead with seven RBI. On the hill the Ravens have posted a team ERA of 3.60 led by London Schrock at 0.75 in nine and a third innings with a 1-1 overall record.

Columbus enters in search of their first win on the year, the Wildcats are 0-7 after a Tuesday night 15-3 loss to Highland. These two teams last met in 2018 when Hillcrest swept a doubleheader by a combined 37-0 score. It’s senior night for the Ravens and they will honor two players Drew Blauvelt and Kobe Borntrager.

On the softball diamond, the Ravens come in with an 0-8 overall record after a 6-0 loss Tuesday to Winfield-Mt. Union. On the season, the Ravens are hitting .129 as a team led by Esther Hughes with a .316 average, six hits, four runs scored, a homer and an RBI. In the circle Leah Bontrager has done the work for the Ravens throwing 39 innings with an 0-7 overall record and 7.90ERA.

Columbus softball is 1-5 after collecting their first win of the year Tuesday, 6-1 over Highland. On the year the Wildcats have a .226 average with Emma Milder leading the way at .318 with seven hits and four runs scored. Jocelyn Fulton has a team best six RBI. In the circle the Wildcats have a 5.16ERA with Libby White posting a team low 4.59 ERA in 29 innings with a 1-4 overall record. These two teams met three times last year with Columbus taking two of three by 7-6 and 8-2 scores before Hillcrest scored an 11-3 victory. Softball will play at 5:30 this evening at Columbus while baseball gets underway at 7p.m. in Kalona.
