The Hillcrest Academy Ravens and Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves met in a Southeast Iowa Superconference split doubleheader Tuesday. In Kalona, it was the Raven baseball team with a 8-2 win over the Wolves. Hillcrest did all of their scoring in two innings, a 10 batter, five run fifth where Noah Miller, Drew Blauvelt, Kobe Borntrager, Luke Schrock and Jace Rempel all scored on RBI hits by Borntrager and Rempel, to go up 5-0. The Ravens made it 8-0 with three more in the third as Borntrager, Luke Schrock and Rempel all scored with the RBI in the inning going to Rempel. That was more than enough offense for Raven starter Drew Blauvelt who got the win going six innings, giving up five hits and striking out eight. Winfield-Mt. Union broke up the shut out in the seventh with Christian Gerot and Cole Milks coming home on a Jacob Ford RBI double. Ford led the Wolves going three for four at the plate. Rempel led the Ravens going two for two with three RBI and two runs scored. Hillcrest has now won three straight to run their record to 4-5. WMU falls to 1-7.

The Wolves got their revenge on the softball diamond in Winfield, shutting out the Ravens 6-0. The Wolves scored twice in the third and pushed across four insurance runs in the sixth to secure the victory behind Madie Anderson in the circle who threw a complete game one hitter, striking out 16. At the plate, Emma Haines came through with a pair of hits and drove in three. Sarah Miller had the lone knock for the Ravens. With the loss, Hillcrest falls to 0-8. The Wolves are now 5-2 on the year.
