A pair of KCII area baseball and softball teams will share the diamond tonight in Southeast Iowa Superconference action when Hillcrest Academy meets Winfield-Mt. Union. The Raven baseball team comes into the game with an overall mark of 3-5. They have won back to back games over Louisa-Muscatine and Wapello. The Ravens are hitting .262 as a team, led by Eli Ours at .500 with 12 hits, seven runs scored and four driven in. On the mound, Hillcrest has a 3.82 team ERA led by London Schrock at 0.75 in nine innings of work with a 1-1 record.

Winfield-Mt. Union is 1-6 on the year after falling to Highland 13-2 on Monday. The Wolves are hitting .220 as a team led by Jacob Ford at .412 with seven hits, two runs scored and two driven in. On the hill, WMU has a team ERA of 15.39, led by Ford at 6.12 with a 1-1 record in eight innings of work. These two teams met in a doubleheader last year with the Ravens posting matching 9-0 wins to earn the sweep. WMU’s last win in the series came in 2016.

The Raven softball team comes in looking for their first win of the season at 0-7 after a 6-3 loss to Wapello Monday. The Ravens are hitting .116 as a team, led by Esther Hughes at .267 with four hits and two runs scored. Leah Bontrager has handled all of the pitching for the Ravens this year, working 32 innings with a 8.97ERA and 0-7 record.

Winfield-Mt. Union is 4-2 after a tough luck 2-1 loss at Highland Monday. For the season the Wolves are hitting .246 as a team, led by Emma Haines and Jobey Malone, each hitting .333. Madie Anderson has handled all of the work in the circle, throwing 40 innings with a 4-2 record and miniscule 0.35ERA. The Lady Wolves swept a doubleheader last year between these two schools by 4-1 and 6-2 scores. Hillcrest’s last victory in the series came in 2017.
