The Mid-Prairie baseball team steps outside of River Valley Conference play Tuesday to take on the Solon Spartans in Wellman. Mid-Prairie comes into the game red-hot. The Hawks have won five straight to run their record to 7-2 and are currently ranked No. 8 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie beat West Liberty 16-6 on Monday behind five RBI from Karson Grout. On the year, the Hawks are hitting .324 as a team, led by Aidan Rath and his .591 average with 13 hits, 14 driven in and eight runs scored. The Hawks have a team ERA of 3.00, led by Keegan Gingerich with a 2-0 record in 12 and a third innings with no earned runs allowed.

Solon comes into the game with an overall record of 7-4. They swept Marion on the road Monday by 9-1 and 9-7 scores. For the year the Spartans are hitting .259 as a team, led by Cole Arduser with a .312 average, 10 hits, 11 runs scored and seven driven in. The Spartans have a 3.13 team ERA led by Jacob Smith with a 1-0 record in seven innings of work and no earned runs allowed. These teams met a season ago with the Spartans taking a 10-0 and 7-2 doubleheader sweep. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman.
