fireworks-300x225-6

As the 4th of July holiday weekend is upcoming, Iowans should be aware of their local laws when it comes to fireworks. The state of Iowa has made the sale and private use of fireworks legal, but allows local governments to create their own laws surrounding fireworks usage. The City of Kalona received complaints last week of fireworks being set off within city limits and reminds citizens of their ordinance in place. The current city ordinance on fireworks reads that only those who are part of fair associations, amusement parks, and other organizations or groups of individuals can set off fireworks, after written approval by city authorities. If individuals have questions about the city ordinance, they are encouraged to call Kalona City Hall for more information.
