A Sigourney man died in a traffic wreck in Iowa County Thursday afternoon. According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:30 p.m. a serious traffic accident was reported. A dump truck had driven off the road in the 3100 block of D Avenue in rural Deep River. The truck crashed into a field drive. The truck was driven by 79-year-old William W. Davis of Sigourney. Davis was found deceased at the scene.

The dump truck was owned by Wayne Davis Trucking of Sigourney. It was fully loaded when it struck the field drive and it partially broke apart. The accident remains under investigation, but according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office initial findings revealed that the truck’s front passenger tire blew and caused Davis to lose control. Davis was not wearing a seat belt.
