The Mid-Prairie School District will move forward with the purchase of a new minibus for the next school year. The district received six bids for buses, and voted to purchase a bus from Thomas Bus Sales Incorporated out of Des Moines. This minibus will seat up to 12 passengers and will cost the district $62,988. It is funded through their Physical Plant and Equipment Levy funds. Business Manager Jeff Swartzentruber says the downside is the bus will not be delivered until late October or early November. This bus was purchased in order to have a functioning chair lift for those students who use a wheelchair. The district will keep their older minibus and plan to use it for preschool bus routes.
