The Mid-Prairie School District has set new dates for their graduation and prom celebrations. The district sent out a survey to parents and seniors on when they would like to see these events be held. Nearly 115 responses were gathered and 83 of those responses said to wait until June. Now, the district will hold prom on June 20th and graduation on June 28th. With current COVID-19 restrictions in place, decisions on prom-like activities and graduation participation sizes will be discussed further as more information is released and health guidelines change. High School Principal Jay Strickland says it has been a challenge, but the district will continue to find the best way to hold these events, “I think right now, we have a couple of meetings set up next week to start looking at some details and some plans. My plans would be to take our graduation plan and share it with the county health department and get some input from health officials as well before we finalize it.” In the same survey, the most popular prom event recipients want to see happen is the grand march. Strickland says they will continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines set by the state and continue to finalize these plans in the coming weeks.
