The Mid-Prairie School District buildings will see many new changes this summer. Superintendent Mark Schnieder says these changes are a yearly project for the district in order to give students the best learning environment possible. The district spent around $500,000 on kitchen renovations, tiling, and wall repair projects last summer. This summer, the board will spend $205,003 on parking lot patching at the middle school; heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system updates at East and West elementary; LED lighting at East Elementary; and more. The most costly project this summer will see two HVAC Systems installed at West Elementary for a total of $39,940 completed by Mechanical Services. Schneider says these projects will start as soon as possible and look to be complete before next school year starts. The current end-of-year plans for the district are teachers cleaning out and closing their classrooms this week, allowing families to retrieve their student’s items next week, then commencing normal cleanings and summer projects.
