The top academic students at each high school in Iowa have been selected for the 2020 Governor’s Scholar Program. The 424 seniors receiving the honor were selected by their high schools as the highest academic achievers. Washington High School is represented by Leah Marek. Mid-Prairie’s recipient is Ingrid Gingerich. Highland’s honoree is Matt Butler. Hillcrest Academy is represented by Jesse Slater.

The in-person ceremony was canceled this year due to COVID-19 and the honorees were announced online. The recognition began in 2003 and is presented by the Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and Iowa Farm Bureau.
