The Iowa High School Athletic Association’s 2020 boys State Basketball Tournament will play Friday’s games with spectator restrictions due to increasing concern over the spread and impact of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). According to the Association website iahsaa.org, Championship and consolation games are all set to be played today at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and those will go on as originally scheduled, as did Thursday’s games. The Association has coordinated with health officials, state and local government and the Iowa Events Center throughout the week with updated guidance on measures being put in place. At this time for those attending, only team members, game officials, essential tournament workers, Iowa Events Center staff, limited credentialed media and select school spectators will be allowed inside the facility. Spectators are limited to just 100 total entrants from each participating school and will be admitted free of charge. The 100 total does include the official traveling team of the party. The Association is recommending these entrants are limited to immediate family members of the traveling party. Participating schools have been required to submit a list of names for those attending. These individuals will be checked in 30 minutes prior to tipoff. Games in all four classes are scheduled for Friday.
