The 2020 Iowa High School Track Season commenced on Monday with the first indoor meet of the year, as many area girls teams traveled to Cedar Falls for the Dickinson Relays.

Teams from all classes gathered for the annual meet and Washington participated in a handful of events. Molly Klinzman was a headliner placing 66th out of 207 in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.73 seconds. Klinzman and Leah Marek were in the top half of the 60m dash with matching times of 8.84 seconds. Other top finishes included Marek 68th in the 400m dash (1:08.09), Alex Murphy 72nd in the shot put (30’3’’), and the 4x800m relay placing 45th (11:50.76). Highland’s Emily Yahnke picked up right where she left off from last year cracking the top 10 in ninth out of 137 in the long jump with a leap of 16’6’’. She also placed 67th in the 200m (29.42) and 76th in the 60m (8.67). Other Huskie finishes included Danielle Laughlin 39th in long jump (14’10’’), Katelyn Waters 94th in long jump (12’9’’), and Madison Thomann 105th in 800m (2:54.67). Lone Tree’s Macie Bopp was 41st in the 400m dash (1:06.53) and teammate Holley Johnson was right behind in 46th (1:06.98). Johnson was also 60th in the 60m hurdles (10.68) and Allison Marshek 99th in shot put (28’5’’). Sigourney was the final area team participating and freshman Macy Fisch had a strong heave of 33’2’’ in the shot to place 32nd. Rylee Goldman was 50th in the 60m hurdles (10.61) and Heidi Clarahan 78th in the long jump (13’8’’).
