It was home cooking for the Demon archery team on Saturday, as they ranked first out of four teams in the bullseye competition of the Washington Fun Shoot.

The Demons wore the crown after shooting a team score of 3374 with 185 bullseyes. Curtis Stender bested the entire field of 65 high school boys with 291 and 22 bullseyes. Alexis Ide tallied a 285 to place fifth out of 53 high school girls. Other top Demon scoring included David Rees 287, Jack Strabala 286, Levy Palacios 286, Jonathan Moore 283, Anna Venenga 283, and Lane Frana 283.

The home team placed second in the 3D competition out of four with a score of 1645. Jonathan Moore paced the squad in that category with 282 to rank fourth out of 36 high school boys. Samantha Mellinger was sixth out of 31 high school girls with 276. Other finishes included Cooper Reed 279, Curtis Stender 278, Lane Frana 273, Maggie Morgan 273, and William Peterson 269.

Washington now gears up for the state tournament this weekend in Des Moines.
