The Lone Tree girls’ basketball season came to a close on Friday night when they met up with Burlington Notre Dame in a class 1A semifinal and was on the short end of a 69-49 game.

The Nikes (20-4) were methodical all night stretching a 19-12 lead after one into 36-22 at the break. They continued to extend the lead out in the third to put the game on ice, but Lion head coach Ryan Shelman was proud of how his team competed. “I thought our girls fought to the end and continued to play hard against a really good team. They have 6’3’’ and 5’10’’ girls at the top of their press and it is really difficult to move the ball against them. I thought this was a great opportunity and experience for our team to be in the semifinals.”

The Lions cap off the season at 13-11 and say goodbye to seniors Natalie Patterson, Holley Johnson, Sara Branson, Lilian Miller, and Chiara Farnesi.
