The tickets have been tallied and the Washington Fire Department served 2,200 pancake meals at their annual fundraiser. It was the first Pancake Day in the city’s new fire station. Karl Jones and Yale Jarvis donned tuxedos for the special event, the 50th anniversary of their first time mixing pancake batter in penguin suits. Jarvis shares it was special to be part of the pancake day in the brand new fire station, “So this is the third fire department building we’ve been in and this is such a great group of guys to work with. And like I say, we come back and we have fun.” He said they originally measured out the milk and pancake mix in five-gallon buckets. Last year, the department served approximately 1,900 meals. The fire department is now organizing their annual fireman’s dance on February 8th.
