womens-march

All are welcome to take part in a Women’s March in Washington Saturday. This march is being hosted by Women’s Vote Centennial, a local group celebrating the 100th year of women having the right to vote. Organizer Carol Ray says the event will be around the square and is for women and men. She says the march is about equality, “You really get that solidarity of women. That women’s rights are so important. We hold up half the sky, as someone once said. And we need to be equal. We don’t want to take over, we just want equal rights. We want equal pay and equal recognition.”

Marchers are welcome to bring their own signs, and there will be some on hand. The event will follow the legislative briefing and will start at 12:30 p.m. in front of the public library.
