The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back in action tonight when they step outside of the River Valley Conference schedule to take on Williamsburg. After weather postponed games on Friday and Saturday, the Hawks have had nearly a week off since their doubleheader sweep of Wilton with the boys winning 62-43 on the strength of 20 points from Ethan Trimpe and the Golden Hawk girls scoring a 62-44 win behind 16 from Myah Lugar.

The Mid-Prairie boys come in at 2-5 on the year. They are led by Ethan Trimpe and Carter Harmsen each scoring 12 points per game, 10th best in the River Valley South. Brad Tornow has the team lead and is third in the conference with 34 assists. Aidan Rath paces Mid-Prairie on the glass with 48 boards, 10th most in the RVC.

The Williamsburg boys enter play with an overall mark of 3-5. Last time out they won at Vinton-Shellsburg 44-40 with Draven Williams scoring a team high 19 points. On the year, Kaden Wetjen leads the way for the Raiders at 13 points per game, seventh best in the WAMAC West. His 55 rebounds are also best on the team and fourth in the WAMAC. Jake Weber’s 17 assists are a team high and eighth in the WAMAC. These two teams met a year ago with the Hawks getting a 63-40 road win.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 3-5 on the year, led by Myah Lugar and Maddie Nonnenmann, each scoring 11 points per game, seventh in the River Valley Conference. Lugar also leads the Hawks with 40 rebounds. Amara Jones has a team best 27 assists and 36 steals, both fourth best in the RVC.

The Williamsburg girls are 1-8 this season. Their most recent game a setback Tuesday against Vinton-Shellsburg 67-45. Taylor Winegarden leads the Raiders at 10 points per game, ninth most in the WAMAC. She also has a team best 23 assists, fourth most in the conference, and 16 steals. Kendra Eichhorn leads the Raiders on the glass with 57 rebounds, that total is fifth highest in the WAMAC. These two teams met a year ago with Mid-Prairie taking a 46-34 victory.
