A program that helps fund building improvements in downtown Washington received a boost from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation recently. The foundation awarded the Main Street Washington Incentive Fund $25,000. At the grant presentation, WCRF president Tom Basten explained the funds are used to help improve and repair buildings while property owners provide matching dollars.

Previous projects have included siding, awnings, and brick work. Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt tells KCII News that the program, “Has helped capture over $10 million of private investment in our community since 2008.” More information on how to apply for the incentive fund can be found at Main Street Washington.
