The WACO girls’ basketball team starts up their season today when they hit the road to Keosauqua to face Van Buren.

The first look at the Warrior season was Friday when they battled Washington in the annual Hall of Pride Scrimmage. WACO is looking to improve off of a 7-16 campaign last year and junior Aubri Garnsey looks to lead the charge after 5.6 points per game as a sophomore. Second year head coach Caylon Devaul tells KCII Sports he wants his team to play loose this year. “We want to move the ball a little quicker and we want the girls to have the freedom of playing basketball. Go out there and just play instead of overthink things.”

The season gets started at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Van Buren High School.
